Thanks guys, that has helped me alot.!!! i purchased a set of ebay for $200 and it had a list of the service that has been done to it from a carby place! soo good deal! the only thing im worried about, which i think it should be right is, im hoping that the carby closest to the firewall does not hit the fire wall because of its position?.. it looks like it may come very close.! does anyone know, from experience or know of anyone, that this has happened to?. thanks for that guys... so helpful!

Technical Board / Modification Help / fitting an M20 gearbox in the tunnel of an fc??
|
on: May 18, 2009, 05:20:29 PM
|
Hey
Im trying to put an M20 gearbox behind a grey motor using dellows bell housing, with original engine mounts, in my FC. It looks like it will fit, but im worried that it might not fit in the tunnel. I was thinking of lowing the motor through the back engine mounts, it would not be too hard but not sure if it will work. Is there any suggestion on what i should do??
thanks

robbo,
i just took the carbies and manifold off and sent them to extreme to get rebuilt and polished and shined and i will be getting them back next friday. the manifold which i have had 3 loops i guess you could call them, and this "pole" (great at using terminoligy i am) goes through these loops on the outside bottom edge of the manifold. ill see if i can find this setup on the internet somewhere and send it to you. damn i should have taken a few picks before i took it down to the carby place. but If you ever need to get any carbies looking fantasticly shinny and rebuild this guy does a great job, he can take it back to the brass looking finish or he can make it look like polished alloy. i saw a few which he has done. look amazing, i also took the manifold in to him and he will clean that up too. Great bloke "Extreme fuel systems" look on google.
thanks mate

hey
i was looking at a few of the carby set up's at the easter show of 2 of the grey motors and they were both different to eachother and different to mine. Not sure what a W clip is, but i have a bar which runs along, the bottom of the manifold which has 2 shorter bars which come off this bar and go to arms linking to one carby each and another bar which has a control arm on it which goes to a mechanical accel set up. i find this works really well and that the choke does not effect it. the only trouble i had was that the carvies were not fulli opening. but i fixed that soon enough.
thanks mate..

so ken?
does this mean i just go to repco and order an fc dash fascia??? because im happy to have the fc dash fascia chrommed with a new plastic thing?
i spoke to that dude from american auto's homebush and he was saying that the guys who make it are just slack basted and are not making them anymore. but they found another dude that will make it and just as u said, he needs the right mould. but we will have to wait untill all this bullshit passes, and they actually start getting them in.
so can i get it from repco?.
thanks mate. Eric
