1  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Fitting a New Roof Lining on: September 24, 2024, 05:55:48 PM
Thanks Gman, sounds like a good idea - a nice way to control the amount of heat. And do you find that the heat tightens up the vinyl?
2  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Fitting a New Roof Lining on: September 24, 2024, 03:48:02 PM
Hi all,

I am in the process of fitting a new roof lining. So far I have the lining fitted with the bows in place and clipped around the front and rear windscreens.

The fit from front to rear is satisfactory but I can see that in the area near the top of the doors, particularly the rear doors, even when it is pulled tight to the alligator teeth, there will be loose-ish material between the bows.

Would careful application of heat cause the vinyl to shrink a bit and tighten up?

Any help is welcome, thanks in advance.

Hi,

Would anyone have a pair of FE/FC Panic Straps (15.390 Strap Assembly - Assist Grip) with reasonable chrome for sale?

Part numbers LH 7411379 and RH 7411380.

Thanks
4  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Panic Straps - Part Number? on: April 12, 2024, 10:50:28 AM
Excellent, thank you RET.
My 20 year parts catalogue starts at EJ so the Catalogue number of 15.390 is listed but not the FE/FC part number.
It's good to know the proper description too.

Hi all,
Could anyone advise me the part number for FE/FC Panic Straps? I couldn't find it listed in the 20 year parts catalogue.
And does anyone have a pair with reasonable chrome for sale ?
Thanks.

7  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: How to dismantle internal sun visors? on: February 07, 2024, 10:36:16 PM
Thanks Doug, much appreciated.

It also looks like the rods need to be ground down so that the chromed mounts can be removed and then the rods re-peened over to reinstall.
8  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Holden Clutch Slave Cylinder Wanted on: February 07, 2024, 11:19:44 AM
Hi all,
I'm looking for an FC Holden clutch slave cylinder, part number 7409952, casting number 7409134.
I'll be reconditioning it so it doesn't need to be in working condition.
Thanks.

10  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Which Master Cylinder(s) on: February 06, 2024, 04:08:10 PM
Hi,

I have two different styles of tin pot master cylinders (same part numbers) and am wondering which is right for a late 59 FC?

I also have tin pots with different hole sizes in the base, is this something that just varied from manufacturers?

Thanks

11  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Replacing the Original Radio Speaker on: May 04, 2023, 09:50:34 AM
Hi RET and thank you.

I've found an item on ebay that has used your suggestion. I may go with that or make my own up.

Some time ago I purchased a retro sound 6"x9"dual cone speaker that fits the grill nicely but is too big for the dash. The dual 4" arrangement looks to be a winner for fit and sound quality.
12  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Replacing the Original Radio Speaker on: May 02, 2023, 08:53:47 PM
Hi all,

I was wondering what others have done to replace the original radio speaker?

My radio has been rebuilt with AM/FM and Bluetooth and I am looking for a good speaker that will fit the centre dash grill where the original speaker was.

Thanks

14  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Reconditioning Generator, Starter and Regulator. on: November 21, 2022, 04:46:01 PM
Hi all,

I'm at the electrics stage of my rebuild and wondering if anyone would recommend an auto electrician that could check/recondition my generator, starter and regulator?

Preferably Melbourne area so I don't have to post.

thanks in advance
15  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Fitting Door Rubbers on: October 21, 2021, 07:02:22 PM
Hi all,

Regarding the Loctite 454, could anyone guide me where to buy bottles of it?

Tubes of 454 are readily available but the only other option seems to be a syringe which could be hard to get - I only found one advert for it from America at a high cost.

Thanks in advance and for all the great advice on this forum.
16  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Accelerator linkage colour? on: September 30, 2021, 05:29:12 PM
Hi Ken and thank you. I've seen them in a few different colours and what's left of the paint on mine is black-ish so I guess it's original.
17  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Accelerator linkage colour? on: September 29, 2021, 06:25:26 PM
Hi all,

The long accelerator linkage that runs right-left behind the motor - what colour would that be originally or was it cad plated or other?

Also same question for the link near to the carburettor that the spring hooks to.

Thank you
18  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Beehive heater re-core - recommendations? on: June 18, 2021, 10:20:57 PM
Hi Harv and thank you.

I've also been reading about cleaning the core by flushing with vinegar or baking soda. Not sure I want to risk it but I'm interested in what others think.

19  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Beehive heater re-core - recommendations? on: June 17, 2021, 04:42:33 PM
Hi,

My NASCO beehive heater has been out of the car for 20+ years and I'm getting close to refitting it.

The core looks good and passed a leak test but I presume I should re-core it after so long.

Can anybody recommend where I could get a re-core done in the Melbourne area?

Thank in advance
