Thank you all for appreciation. I'm very happy with it.
This wagon helps with the loss of my FC van after 26yrs of ownership :-)

I remember you telling me Mick at the Tmba swap in Feb that you had sold your FE std wagon & regretted it. Funnily enough I'd only just had a conversation with Kenny 20min beforehand about his (this) wagon, which I ended up buying!

This wagon's build no. is 1614, so I guess the vinyl-less cargo area is legit.

Yes Ken that's the car. It hasn't done many miles since you corresponded with kenny (via Richard Thomas' letter of july 2003). It was a  hard decision of kenny's to let her go. He negotiated visiting rights into the terms of sale!

Recently acquired standard FE wagon. Has lived all it's life on the Darling Downs in SE Qld and I'm the 3rd owner.

Cuban Beige (repainted) with fall red interior and everything pretty original still.

Zero rust & nice to drive, though I do that sparingly to keep it < 30,000 miles for as long as I can!

Thanks Stewy & Phil. So I guess they are about 1/2" wide or thereabouts?
10  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Braided steel earth strap on: March 24, 2015, 12:15:54 PM
Hi, can anyone advise part no. or dimensions for the appropriate braided steel earth strap for the battery in an FE/FC?

I see there are a few places reproducing them.

thanks

Front & rear chrome frames are the same then - that's good to know thanks.
12  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Number plate mount - front bumper on: March 17, 2015, 08:40:41 PM
Thanks Ken i'd appreciate buying that off you.

It must be a rear bumper 'arch' thing fitted to the front bumper as it has two screw holes?

14  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Number plate mount - front bumper on: March 17, 2015, 09:06:48 AM
I am looking for a number plate mount/bracket to suit FE front bumper.

It screws into the arching chrome peice, then plate is attached to it.

thanks

Van now sold, going to a good home.
Thanks for interest folks.
16  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / FC panel van on: March 03, 2015, 07:41:15 AM
I plan to sell my FC panel van that has been undergoing a restoration for a few years, on & off, to help fund the purchase of a road-ready FE standard wagon.

I have a couple of other HD Holden resto's on the go & I know I will not get time to complete them all due to ill health.

So I'm just working out now how to do this, as the van is in pieces & it may work out that the buyer chooses to take the van without the grey motor drivetrain (if they have another option in mind) & I am sorry but I don't really have a selling figure in mind - other than I'm not holding out for big dollars - I just want to recover costs & sell it for a fair market price. I'm thinking around the 7-8,000 mark.

Van is located in the Lockyer Valley, about 45min west of Brisbane in QLD.
Inspections are encouraged & I have a few photos' of the resto process I can email to anyone interested. Please advise an email address if interested.
I've bought reproduction parts for it over the years, including complete wiring harness, hood lining, dash facia surround, rubber bits etc.

Couple of pics attached. First pic taken in 1988 when I collected it from a Lockyer Valley farm. Second pic shows completed body shell.

thanks

Mark I have a windowless FC van that I've owned since 1988.

Just made decision today to offer it up, due to pending purchase of an FE wagon.

Have sent you an email.

Has been repainted in the past to 'one' colour unfortunately.
Anyhow I don't expect to get it - I've since heard that the old gent is chasing big dollars for this rusty gem, so sadly it will likely go the way of many  - rust into a lonely heap.
19  General / General Board / FC in Tmba on: May 28, 2014, 07:58:57 PM
Found this old girl in Toowoomba today. Old owner said he parked it under the carport 20yrs ago so I guess a few of you would have seen it too.
Anyway I made an offer for it and he wrote down my details, so we will see.
Has a few cool period acc's, but body is pretty rusty.
