Hello,

I have a commodore electronic distributor on a 179.

As mentioned in previous posts, I have to run high levels of advance at idle to get it to run smoothly. Its making good power under acceleration but the exhaust note doesn't seem as crisp as it should be and economy seems poor.

Removing vacuum advance makes little difference.

I have also checked that the harmonic balancer rubber has not slipped by checking true TDC.

I have the car booked in at David Jones Auto Electricals for a diagnosis and possible Dizzy regraph on thursday. They also have a gas analyser.

Is there anything I should ask they to do igntion wise while I am there?

Has anyone had a regraph before? Its been recommended to me by many people regarding commodore distributors.

I assume they need to know cams specs, fuel RON, spark gap - anything else (jet, power valve size)?

you have covered most things , also what headwork has been done, any motor that has been worked can be vastly improved with a regraphed  dizzy, i took my highly worked Grey motor into Perfectune in Moorabin many years ago and they put it on Dyno for a couple of runs then removed my dizzy and regraphed it, boy did it make a difference. The old boy ( i suppose he was only 45 then) did the dyno work for free for a swap as he wanted to have a drive of my FC he proceeded to scare the crap outa me by going twice as hard as id ever pushed it, he was a far better driver than me thats for sure.so yes a regraph is very worth while.
