With my car almost ready for exhaust and rego I've been getting a few more quotes.

One place, who seemed to know their stuff, has told me that the flanges that fit to the X2 headers are different to all flanges now made - and I need to source some second hand ones.

Is this the case, or are all holden manifold/flanges the same and I can use some that were fitted to a stock manifold?

No other places seemed to mention this as a problem - but this place said they did an XU1 a few weeks back and this was the case.

Any experience?

Dave,

The flange itself or the flange gasket?

The flange on the header end of the exhaust could be easily made couldn't it?? Seems strange?

What exactly couldn't they supply?

Craig.

Craig,

I didn't quite understand what he meant.

I believe he meant the flange on the pipes that meet the headers.

I had a look at the old ones that were on it - totally rusted - and they don't seem any different from a stock exhaust.

I can't seem how they can't supply one - I'll ask a few other places this quetion specifically and see what happens.

I asked a wrecker where I got them and he didn't seem to know of any problems with them.

You could try caling Liverpool Exhaust (NSW) for the flange.

they manufacture Hurricane headers and have warehouses full of every possible bit you could imagine for an exhaust.

and they are happy to sell parts only.

Hi,

I just spoke to another exhaust place that said they could do they job no worries at all - he couldn't understand what the other mob was on about.

Thanks for all the help - I'll let you know how I go and either recommend them or advise to try elsewhere.

Cheers

I understand that the X2/161 173 186 S header flanges are the same size as grey motor flanges.
