Has anyone got any tips for fitting put the striker plates & those spacer type plates that go under the striker plates so I don't scratch put the paint while trying to align them with the door locking mechanism.

hi glenn, i ended up using some wide say 2 inch masking tape the veryu carefully moving the latch around so it wouldnt catch the tape, then when position is determined cut the tape away carefully with a sharp razor or blade. the other way could be to leave the backing plate off just use the latch to set the position then trace  around it with a soft lead pencil remove the latch and fit backing plate.
