Hopefully to be registered within the next couple of weeks. Survived it's first run (5 km) on country roads.

A few teething problems with linkages not giving a smooth gearchange, horn and wipers not working.(not that rain is expected any time soon) ,my tyre issue to be sorted and some minor panel/paint.

Thanks Guys

Tayz : The previous owner had chopped the floor for a "red" conversion. I was hoping to put original back in but local engineer advised it would be too hard so I opted for the "Hadfield" tunnel option. So to answer your question ;it is running the standard 3 on the tree grey! Anyone know if the gearbox changed over the life of the grey? FC to EH

Norm: Be great to finally meet you and if I find myself in Grenfell soon will give you a yell.

Nice going paddock basher, ute looks pretty good.  It always gives the rest of us a nice fuzzy feeling seeing another one make it back on the road.  Goodluck with it all...  would love a ute myself, be perfect for carrying the trailbike around in style.

paddockbasher,
the gearboxes from FE to EJ are pretty well much the same and are interchangeable.  From the EH on, the gearboxes will still interchange with the early ones but they are quite different.  The easy way to visually tell the difference is by the bellhousing. FE to EJ have a non detachable bellhousing, whereas the later boxes have a separate alloy bellhousing with a large steel lower removable inspection cover.

regards earlee.

Hay Earlee,
The 48 to EK gearboxes are the ones without detachable bellhousing. From EJ they have the separate alloy bellhousing.

Cheers,

Graham

Hey Peter. Great to see the ute I got shit in my eyes working on come back to the street. Theres lots of familiar parts on it mate. ENJOY....... The guy who sold it to me will be very happy indeed. As am I considering all the stuffing around we did... Just goes to show that there still out there, And if you make an effort ,, ANY model early Holden is still available at a realistic price. And with effort a good result can be achieved......  STUFF INFLATION  !!!!!!!!!!!
