Here is a pic that was published in the book Australia's Hot Rod Heritage, available from Graffiti. The car shown was owned by Peter brackenridge and featured EH bumpers and pans, HR taillights and Mercedes headlights. Picture taken in 1970 outside the Canberra Hot Rod Show. The book is full of great pictures showing the history of Hot Rods in Australia, and a must have for any true car guy.

WHAT A BLAST FROM THE PAST

I remember this car, I used to work with Peters father (Old Syd Brackenridge) and I recall Syd Bringing it into work one day. If my memory serves me right, it was 1968 and Peter was an apprentice Panel Beater, or he may have just finished his time. I can recall that the radio ant was recessed into the l/h/f/ guard and it had a custom roof lining, also it had a red motor, which was not uncommon at the time, however this one was not cramped (lengthwise) and I can recall Syd saying that Peter had extended the length of the front end. On reflection this would have been a major custom. My most vived recollection was and still is that I was very envious and most impressed.  Now that I am restoring an FC, I was only thinking about this very car a few days ago 

I,ts great to see that it is still surviving after 40 years.

Thanks for the input.
The car may still survive, but it's whereabouts are unknown to me.
The pics in the book are from '70 and though a new publication, all pics used are from old photo collections.
If you are still in touch with Peter's father, perhaps you could ask about the cars more recent past. Did he sell it? scrap it? etc.

I doubt if Syd would still be alive today, as he was about 60YO back then. However I will try and track down Peter, see what info I can find out and I,ll post it.

I remeber seeing some pics of this car in the late 70's

some really nice and original ideas at the time, would love to know the history post peter too.

may just have to grab me a copy of the book.
