Hi,
Noticed while my son was on the Street Commodores forum that they have cancelled their Nationals - they were to be held in Sydney later this month I think. I believe they were expecting 300+ entries.

Not sure what the problem was yet.
Their Nationals forum site is:

Thanks for the update Trevor and I hope you don't mind that I've moved your post to the "Events & Show's" Section of the Forum.  Most Members might only check out the "Nationals" page regarding the FE-FC Nationals, and Commodore fans might have missed this news.

Wish we'd get 300+ members to FE-FC Nats!  Though in a percentage comparison between existing Commodores vs FE/FC's, we probably aren't doing too bad in getting 80+ cars out of what must be only a few thousand left.  Still if there's say 3000 FE-FC's left, we getting about 3% to Nationals.

G'day Nicko

I couldn't find it either, until I did a quick search on "cancelled" and this came straight up - with the explanation.

Street Commodores Nationals - CANCELLED

ATTENTION ALL It is with great regret that we must inform you that due to contractual and insurance complications, the Street Commodores Nationals to be held on the weekend of July 31 – August 1, 2004 has been postponed.  We apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused by this, as we know a great deal of you were looking forward to attending the show.  We cannot thank those people enough who have supported us in this venture, and we hope it will not change your feelings towards the magazine or future efforts by the magazine to promote the Commodore scene. We urge you to please make sure you cancel any accommodation or travel plans. I will personally be at the gate to the track on the morning of the 31st to notify those whom we have been unable to contact. For those who entered the event, I will be personally contacting everyone individually by phone this week and we will be refunding all entry fees paid. On a lighter note, we will still be holding the Friday night cruise from Silverwater to Penrith for those of you who are still itching for a get-together. Unfortunately, at this stage, we are unable to discuss further the details as to why the event has had to be postponed. As more information comes to hand, we will endeavour to keep you informed. Thank you for your time and understanding. Jason Gray and the Street Commodores Team.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for moving the post. You are right, it fits better here. My aim was to make sure we could learn from their experinces (once we knew what caused the cancellation!).
You did better than me in finding the reason. Interesting that the insurance problem arose so late - only about 10 days before their event.

South Coast Nationals has also struck the same problem of insurance and Goverment red tape, thou they are still holding a one day show (On Sunday I believe) in a local clubs carpark.

A sad day for anyone interested in any style of car when we can't get to meet and see because of the 'Insurance' problem.
