Heres our happy family off to the beach on New Years Day 1958.It was an 80 mile one way trip for a swim
We were stopped under the tree for a break and to feed my little sister (asleep in the pram) off picture
The rack on the back of the FE was hinged..When put down the pram was tied on complete. That saved time in dismantling it and also saved a bucket load of room in the boot.
Also in the bottom left hand you can see the lid of a picnic set that we used on most outings

Cool pic.
I hope your Mum put an extra blanket over your lil' Sis when the pram was placed on the back. It can get quite breezy back there on long trips. Wink

Blankets..mate it was usually 120 in the water bag but the best thing was that we didnt have to endure the new baby crying thing while she was on the back. Also the corrigations on the gravel roads rocked her to sleep or was it the dust that was spiflicating her....

Our FE was the same colour as Zulus sedan, two tone green
Must have been something to do with the dry bush as the FC and Then the HR were also green. When the crops fail , what would be better than looking at a nice cool green Holden..would have to get ya inspired

Cheers Gaz

Hey Gary....amazing how times change......a family taking a break on a road trip by having a little picnic made by mum that morning.

These days, it's usually.......Mum ...Dad...I'm hungry....let's go to Maccas !

A great pic and a great story......I hope to have many road trips and picnic breaks with my kid(s)...when the FC is finished of course.

Cheers

Mark
