The easiest way from your photobucket account is to -

1. go to the page with the image you want to post.
2. Right-click on the image and scroll down to properties and click
3. copy the address that appears in the box that pops up
4. Replace the text "URL" with this address after clicking the insert image icon on the message editing screen.

Clear as mud?
I think there's are option to show the URLs in Photobucket, maybe you should turn this on and then it's easier to copy the URLs.

Hey Stinky.
It's not always as easy as it would seem.
I have been having trouble linking and made some enquiries with RET and he says YABB does not like the photobucket URL's in some cases due to them being too long or containing too many ///'s. Many of my pics come up as red X's after doing what you suggest. If you can make em work, I'd like to know how.  Wink
Heres an example. Tried many different ways but can not work it out.......help if you can. Oddly enough it seems to add a space between the p+g of jpg, but replacing this with a true space or removing it still does nothing.
Might have to build in a 20% (space) to get em to work.

Regards
Alex

Alex, that would seem to be the case, your LangLang picture has one more "/" than JohnM's picture that I linked. If I saved your pic and uploaded it to another server with a shorter path (less "/"s) it posted fine.
It would be interesting to see if you put a picture in the main page and tried to link to it ie your front page and not under one your headings.

You definately don't want the space or the %20 in the filename extension. As RET suggested before try saving stuff without spaces in the names, a usual trick that I have made a habit is to substitute the space with the underscore "_" like the new URL for your pic -

G'day guys...
I think stinky's onto something there.. I just went back and shortened my "album names" so they didn't have spaces and was finally able to link my first pic from Photobucket. My ablum used to be called "My FC wagon" makng the pic address to long when it added the %20's in... now named "fcwagon"... it seems to work...!?

I tried everything before too, and also noticed that damn space between the "p" and "g" in .jpg.... couldn't work it out, but would suggest no spaces in anything... albums or pic names...

Good luck and thanks Glenn!!
Les...

PS: keep 'em short too I guess.... not sure if "picofmyfcwagonattheriveronsundayafternoon.jpg" would work either  Tongue

Hey all.
Tried something I mentioned above.
Created a new album with a deliberate space. In this case, in place of 'Holden', it is now 'Holden 1'. I now have a space to change from %20 into a true space and it works. Strange.

The lesson here, is spaces are good.....build in 1 in each album name and it should work.
Now I gotta reload some pics and change some links.
Regards
Alex.

Slightly off topic,

It is interesting that the FE GSE-026 has the wire hubcaps.  I wonder how long they would stay on the car as it went around Lang Lang.

I don't think adding spaces is necessarily a good thing, although perhaps fixing the spaces from %20 to " " fixes part of the problem.  The image linking code is pretty funky.  It's on my to-do list...

cheers

This is getting confusing...! Alex is adding spaces in, and I'm taking 'em out.... but we can both now post pics from Photobucket when neither of us could before.... only from Starphot... :-/

What ever works eh...!!

Finally got my little picture linked, tried for ages to do it through starphoto but no luck, I could not find a sensible URL, just jibberish, ended up opening up a new photo at photobucket.  Any tips on linking through starphoto would be appreciated.

Want a tip for linking through Starphoto?
That's easy - DON'T!   Grin Grin Grin

Stick to Photobucket or something else, Starphoto servers seem to be pretty flakey, images time-out more often than not.
