i picked car up myself today as im sick of waiting for car carriers to deliver and as usual company wanted me to wait for a week to get car from Bundaberg 1and a half hours up the road.sorry i cant post pic after nearly two years of doing so now i cant so boys if you want money then offer direct deposit option so we can contribute without a credit card, and well im on subject ,if clubs offered direct deposit options then lots of us old holden lovers in the country would join very fast.

Hi Nicko,

The NSW Club now gives direct access for member deposits via internet banking. Maybe the QLD and other State Clubs could look into doing the same.

Remember EVERYONE can post photos here, members of one of the contributing clubs can do it directly, non members can link from other sites like Starphoto.

Good news about the ute, can't wait to hear more, and to see it and yourself at the next Nats.

Cheers,

Craig.

thanks for posting photos Trev, the wagon is $1000 but as i paid $1500 for the ute i would assume the wagon was only worth a few hundred so he would most likely come down a fair bit as i think its pretty rough and isnt going,i will try to get id plate a bit better and send it to Trev if he doesn't mind,
the ute has worked HP 179 and there is very neatly installed HR disc brake front end, needs front floor patched along edges and around front door piller at base ,the rear is very rustfree and has nice straight tray inside so must have not been worked too hard ,the rear spring hangers are rust free but chassis needs a little steel 3 or 4 inches from hangers, seems very sound and is nearly dead straight in panels, its running very tight Opel 4 speed and all work looks to be of a high standard so will be registered in the near future, he siad its an FC but bonnet that has severe rust is an FE with emblem just above where the bonnet lip used to be.came with spare sand blasted FC bonnet though.accelerator peddle is broken at base where it goes through floor,so guy had to sit on front of car operating throttle while we drove it onto trailer.

The fact that the 253-5300 code can easily be read makes it easy to figure out the rest, since 5300 is Wangarra Grey, and it was only ever available with Ascot Grey.

So the Wagon is '59 FC - '58 tags don't have the word "INSERT" on them, and wagons were only manufactured in Melbourne very late in the piece - up until pretty late in 1959 all wagons came from Adelaide.  If the body number was 4493-A that would make it an early '58 wagon.

The paint was Wangarra Grey over Ascot Grey.  Being '59, it should be top and front one colour, insert the other colour, so the whole plate - I'm guessing - reads

Body: FC-229-4493-M
Trim: 254-857
Paint: 253-7771
Insert: 253-5300
Top: 253-7771

cheers

Richard, you're getting very good at this!!

although I think the Ascot grey would be solid Ascot (7773) not mettalic Ascot (7771)
