My FC is up for sale again to make way for two other projects, I had a local buyer but he couldn’t get the money in the end, Tich was also interested but he found a car closer to his home
Some information on the FC
FC was totally rebuilt over a two year period between 1996 - 1997. The body was stripped to a bare shell and rebuilt from scratch by a panel beater/painter. A CRS chassis kit was purchased and fitted to the car and welded in place. A reconditioned HR Disc Brake Front end with new callipers was fitted. An HR rear Housing was fitted with HR drums and new wheel cylinders and linings, a HT 3.08:1 diff centre was fitted.
Heavy duty lowered front coils with gas shocks were fitted and the rear springs were retensioned and reset. One inch lowering blocks and a sway bar were also fitted.
A reconditioned M20 4 speed gearbox was fitted along with a reconditioned 186 engine and new heavy-duty clutch. The engine was fitted with a redline manifold and two barrel downdraft Weber. A recored EH Radiator and 17 inch thermo fan was fitted. A new VH44 Brake Booster was fitted. New hood lining and piping was fitted and initially the standard FC seats were fitted.
The car was painted in two-tone 2pak paint and baked in an oven. New bumpers were fitted; all of the other bright work was in good condition.
The cost at this point was $15,000.00 and about 1800 hours work

8” X 13” US Racing Mags were originally fitted and the car was driven in this format until 2001 mainly on weekends. It did suffer from wheel clearance problems on the front end, so in March 2001 the wheels were relaced with new 14”x 7” CSA Centreline Pros and new tyres. The rear lowering blocks were removed to fix clearance problems at the rear. I also fitted Commodore buckets seats and an XC console as the floor gearshift was a real pain with the bench seat. The original front seat comes with the car and a spare upper rear squab is available.

In September 2003 a screw fell out of the internals of the Weber and damaged the engine. I sourced a good 186 X2 engine out of a (rare but rusty)HR X2 and totally rebuilt it using hypereutectic pistons, chrome moly rings, had it balanced and fitted a high compression head. The X2 Carbys and manifold were also fitted; I have not fitted the headers at this stage as I was intending to fit an auto box which would mean reworking the exhaust. The wheels and motor added another $3000.00 to the cost and about 200 hours of time. There is also a very good spare 4-speed gearbox that comes with the car. The car is a good vehicle but I have too many projects so it has to go. I will sell the car as it is with all known faults for $9000.00. It is SA rego’d currently
