O.K. Sorry about the other post guys. Streetneat comes on the site and in 2 minutes he's posting pics like a pro and I still struggle. Anyhoo, Just a pic of Hida's grey motor. New Rings, bearings and the head has been shaved a tad and new red motor hard valves put in. New big end bearings as well and a new clutch. I did a quick engine bay sand blast and gloss black. Not a Streetneat job! I am a bird of little patience. I want her finished and finished now. So that's what I was trying to do before, so no more pointing out of my inadequacies thank-you!!   |

This one shows Randall in the backround. He's my "Kiwi" mechanic. No comment - I'm on probation! Randall is the guy with the Moostatch. His business is called "Apex Motors" and "Classic Spares". I'm very happy with his work and can recommend him to all the Coasties. Its always good going in there coz ya don't what classic Holden u'll see. Actually I think thats a F%*d in the background. Note Hilda's new clutch.  |

Hey Emu, I know the feeling, you just want to get going. What has been done to your harmonic balancer, it looks different to mine?
Did you end up getting the fabric for the load area of the wagon?

Emu Hilda's one lucky girl the Motor looks great. Randall does a great job, I must say he has never let me down yet. See his wagon in the background Now if he ever finishes it that will be one niceeee EH Wagon. I heard that he is selling the ute too. Hey Zulu, Dunno about the balancer. The one on the Old Girl when I first started driving her was whacked, so I had Randall put a new one on. Maybe its not an original style one? I'm not sure what it should look like now that u mention it. Sarge, the hour of our meeting must be fast approaching. Kiwi is staying with me in May. (No comment - probation remember), we will get together for a beer then and reminisce about those old "guru" posts and the "Kiwi vs Emu" days. Aaaaah those will be good chats!! If I need a hand with Hilda, you'll be the first I call. Emu |

Balancer is a brand new unit for the greys, same style as red motor, available thru Rares etc.
Emu looks great,I assume you did up another motor to put in 'Hilda', if not how did he get it out without removing the grille etc?
Glad to see the old girl will be breathing fire again soon.

John,
The answer is.... nope, that's the motor. Hilda has an empty engine bay waiting expectantly for the return of her heart.
I've pulled a few motors out in my time, but never a grey out of an FC. The radiator is out obviously and the plate that sits above the grill was removed but the grill appears unmoved. Is it normal procedure to remove the grill? If so, Randall knows a way around it.

If you leave the gearbox in the car, the grille doesn't need to be removed.

looks good.
I am curious about the red motor valves you had put in. What size were they, did you have the ports opened up as well and how much did it cost? I gather you had hardened valve seats put in too so you can run it on unleaded.

Guys you dont have to take the grille out to remove the motor, I use a GMH lifting frame just for the job. Heaven help if you had to take the grille out every time you pulled a grey motor out of the car Look forward to seeing the wagon Emu ChrisB  |

Emu Went over to see Randall today to ordar my carbie's for my old girl ( must think of a name for it ). Thats not Hilda over in the corner is it. Randall's wagon is really starting to look the part he was actually working on it today. Any how must get back out to the un-named and finish put the front end back together.
