Slim,
What's the subframe like, or do you still have the FE one available?

Yes the fe one is still kicking about the joint. The one in this wagon seems good , But they all do until you pull em out ... No really it looks quite good , except the front has had a whole cut in it for some reason, nothing a welder and steel wont fix...

Slim,
It could be for a fresh air intake for a heater if it is in the radiator shroud on the near side. I have had a car with that set up in the past.
I've got an FC that might need a sub frame. Is the FE one spot on?
Out of interest, how is the FE chassis number identified on the chassis number, is it numerals only, or prefixed by "FE"?
Regards
Ed

Ed, In answer to your question about chassis numbers, all FEs and FCs until the second week of December 1958 had the last digit of their assembly year stamped on the chassis number (6, 7 or . From then on all had "FC". cheers RET

Thanks RET.
I once put an EJ subframe on an EH shell, and then had a drawn out debate with an RTA inspector when it went over the pits as to its identity. I didn't want to make the same mistake twice.
I can refer them to the firewall if I end up using a FE subframe. I realise it is not original, but neither will be the 307 Chev!

Edward
