Is an FC/EK front end ( crossmember, engine mount positions) interchangeable with a standard EJ front end?  Does anyone know?

Yes I believe it is. Engine mount is at the front and is Ok.
Front tongue is OK.  Not sure totally about mounting point to chassis.  You may have to use EJ bolts etc to mount to FC.
