Hi Team,

I have read through the historical posts here and on the FB EK forum in related to brake drums. While there is anecdotal evidence and reference to aftermarket drums being machined down by 6 to 6.5mm to fit I was not able to find any reference to this being successfully done. Can anyone advise if this has been done successfully?

I have two usable drums on the ute project and three paperweights; so I can either chase two usable FC drums or buy four new and adapt them to fit.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Craig,

Easiest is to fit FB-EK front brake backing plates and shoes.  EJ-EH drums suit FB-EK front brakes without modification.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the heads up. I presume that if I took that option I would keep the FC drums for the rear.

Still keen to understand if anyone has successfully machined the EH drums to fit so there are future options.

I have identifed a complete set of FC running gear down in Wagga. I need to buy the lot to get the four drums though. Just waiting for him to confirm that they are usable or not.

Cheers

Craig

Had I been aware of it I may have. Already sent the king pins off to be done - I have a HR disc setup complete but am trying to aviod the engineering PITA. If maching works I can chuck them in the lathe and be done wtih it.

I may have to experiment.
