I installed a distributor on an original grey today, but the vacuum advance seems a little too close to the steering colum linkages. Could anyone tell me where I can find some images of the original positioning of the distributor? Cheers

Advance should point almost directly towards the front of the car.
Installation as follows
Locate no 1 piston at TDC on power stroke ( take off rocker cover to check power stroke on no 1)
There is a small notch on the rim of the distributor which when installed should line up with the rotor button.
You need to align the oil pump drive so that when the distributor is installed it rotes slightly and goes into the oil pump drive and you end up with the rotor button aligned with the notch on the distributor drive

Ronno ..see my post of 7th Feb 2021 in technical sect under " getting the grey to run " .. i suspect you are rotating the dissy to engage with the oil pump drive where it is sitting, its other way round you position the oil pump drive to suit the dissy , you will have to put a screwdriver down the dissy hole and rotate the oil pump drive ,then follow those steps ..good luck ..keep well Vern
