Can someone tell me whether the external two piece sun-visors were an option on the FE/FC or an after-market piece? Thanks

Yes, two piece metal visor, aluminium centre bar and L shaped brackets on the side

There are at least 2 types of 2 piece visors, the most common with an aluminium edge and a poverty job with no aluminium edge
