Hi.
I am after information relating to a company called "OLBIS". They made hi performance stuff for Greys & the early reds. Fuel injection set ups & so on. Can anyone shed more light on what else they did?

Well,
I was getting a bit worried no one had heard of this mob, so I decided to enter it into "Google" & see what came up. Stuff me, if they don't still exist!!! They make a stack of different things now, but do still make fuel injection set ups. I have emailed them to see what info they can give me on the injection set up I found (For a Norman Supercharged Grey), so I will keep you informed & let you know there answer. They built injector set ups for all the Early cars. Mostly Greys & Reds!!

Hi Mark
No reply from OIlbis yet, but I did just email them. Sometimes it takes a phone call to get the details.I got my set up & MAN it looks tough on the Norman. It has this big fat scoop on top & has the original sticker still on the side. I will get a shot before too long.

Rob, did you ever hear back from these guys?  Do they still make anything of interest for Greys?

Hi Burnsy.
Nope, they never returned my emails, & when I called them, they could offer nothing but to say that they used to make them. Nothing else.
But, I did write to Australian Muscle Car & was rewarded with them publishing my letter. I got a response from another reader, who also said that they were made for Greys in the 60's, but were very rare. He didn't have one, & hadn't seen one for awhile.
Here is a shot of it with one of my Normans.

Are these only suitable for use with Normans where they bolt straight on in place of the carby or was there a manifold made to take them directly onto the standard head?

As far as I know, they could be used for any motor, as long as you had sufficient breathing (Headwork, blower or turbo). this one is known as the 12 square inch. I do not know why, but it has been referred to as that a few times now.
It is unique, as most early fuel injection systems, were GO or Idle. Most were built for speedway, where it was idle, or flat to the floor.
This one has a fuel bypass system, so it can idle well, then it has a variable flow system, that makes it fine to drive reasonably. It bolted straight onto my 65 series Norman, but I am planning on one day building a manifold, so it hooks up to the 70 series water cooled. That should be fun!
That is about all I know about it. I have all the required pumps, pullies, pipes & regulators.

Hi Guys.

It's amazing what you find checking out other websites.

I found reference to 'Olbis Performance' on this Torana website.

http://www.gmh-torana.imagineering.net.au

Go  to Forums & then General Torana & GM Discussion. select Torana photo history (page 2) & near the bottom he refers to where his 'Giant Killer Torana Club' used to meet.

He refers to 'Olbis Performance' (partners Ernie Olsen & Bernie Bishop - Ol + Bis = Olbis) at an Esso S/S at Clayfield in Brisbane.

This may not exist now but it's not a bad lead ??

Regards.

Dr Terry.

Hi Dr Terry.
Yes, I checked it out. Man, that is more info than I have been able to get since I scored the set-up. Thanks for that.

Welcome Olbis to Western Australia, soon to find itself a home on a green EK near you Grin

If anyone finds anymore information, particularly old pictures that show the system set up in any configuration on any motor please post it here or contact me.

Thanks Rob, bring on the mighty grey,

That's right.
The Olbis is going on a trip. We heard a Green EK was busting to get some motivation, so my friend Olbis is moving out & going to live with Burnsy.  Grin

I am excited, like a little kid in a lolly shop waiting to be told he can have some Cheesy I have tracked down the original maker of Olbis - well half of the team, Bernie Bisha (the bis part of olbis)  and emailed him to try and find out some more information. Now I just sit here checking my emails  waiting for some hopefully good news Grin

Due to the commitment of building a new house in the current booming building market - read expensive Roll Eyes  the Olbis has to find a new home Sad.

I sadly have not taken it out of the box it arrived here in other than to show people so can't give you any more information than is here in this thread.  If you are interested in it, PM me and I will talk details with you.

Cheers,
Burnsy
