Thanks for posting the ID plate in "things I have found on eBay" Dave, the FE is interesting - it's a 56 model without the letter after the body number which indicates it's an early Adelaide built vehicle. Other give away is the painted steering column rather than black.
Also it has the FC rear fins fitted. I have a copy of a GMH directive to dealers to try selling FC fins to FE owners sort of like an accessory. There are quite a few FEs around with FC fins which have been that way for a very long time. This car is obviously one of them.

You're welcome Ken.
Some of the figures are a little hard to make out but enlarged on my screen I thought I could see the letter M.
I was unsure of the last two paint numbers though.
BODY FC/225-19571M
TRIM 277-629
PAINT 253-77(00,06,66?) if it's exactly same as the top then it's 00
INSERT 256-7770
TOP 253-7700

You had me confused for a while because the id plate you posted was from an FC.
Here is the one from the early FE  Smiley

Yeah my thoughts rambled a bit from one car to the other. The FC is a grey and white special which is not too exciting.

That is an early plate, Stewy. Teal Blue over Elk Blue is hardly uncommon, but you don't see FE ID plates with the 5-digit BALM codes very often.

cheers
