 Pretty sure they all use early commodore racks. I know both V6 conv and Rodtech require exchange racks, so no surprise that they can have TRW on them. I bought a Rodtech and grabbed a rack from a VH wreck as my exchange. I now have a V6 conversions one.


Hey mate looks like a V6 conversions one to me I have fitted 2 of theirs one to my FC and one to the ek ute I'm finishing they use a VH manual rack that is shortened and Im pretty sure both of my raks had TRW on them.

I have other photos of the fitup if you like Cam

Cam, my sedan is running a V6 conversions rack. Come over and check measurements, etc if you like. I will check the engineers report and see if that tells me what car it came out of...

looks good mate but why are you wasting your weld through primer.?
that stuffs expensive and paint doesnt like to stick to it
its not an etch primer.
dont get me wrong im not being a nitpicker.
just heard lots of bad reports about paint falling off that stuff

Wayno ..copper based weld thru primer which resists the heat that other etch primers don't resist so well, is used when after you weld you cant get back in there to protect the surfaces ,its not designed to paint over ,..cheers Vern ..

I thought the idea of weld through primer was to capture some zinc in the weld pool. I suppose copper does the same job. Sorry bit off topic.

Your right Wayno I was being lazy and wasteful with the weld thur primer. It will be replaced with etch primer on the outside.

Errol I tried the zinc based weld thur primer, but I switched to cooper as I think the Mig welder worked better as it arked better and had less splatter.

Remove my rusty rear speaker surround and will add a couple of 6x9 holes for speakers



Also have sent the fuel tank into get its inlet moved. Thought I might play it safe and let someone else weld it up... Have done enough work on the car to see it to the end now Tongue

The tank work is being done by Regs Radiators, not sure if anyone else has used him. When I get the tank back I will give some feedback on his work.

Ditto to that process ,we use the copper where welding ,and where there is a bit of copper overspray ,then the etch primer will bond to the copper ,subsequently the paint ..

Bit of rust removal and clean up on the roof..  Couple of dents to be removed and when will work on the inside of the roof.

 

Still waiting for the fuel tank to come back to finish the boot space.

Good question seen the old Dynamat has roof lining... I’m sure there is a cheaper version...   have you used any.. ?

  Mine still has the black cardboard type in it, but some parts have dropped .so looks like l will be replacing the lot
   the worry is will these sound deadeners stick and stay there
 
   you can imagine the amount of heat that hits  the roof directly on top so hopefully someone
    has used something that works

Removed the ridge on the roof

Can see the long speed bump in the roof


Using a slap file and metal file knocked the bump down, then sanded to a nice metal finish


Came out better then I thought it would


Now to inside roof, one half cleaned up, removal of old sound deadner with low setting heat run and scrapper


then flapper disc and a coat of rust converter
