Another vote here for the red & white one for 8 years old. A little more detail & doors that open.

Thanks for the input guys
I was given the cars by a mate and was thinking I would sacrifice one to start my grandsons collection off for him
He can add to it from his own pocket money from now on  Grin

Each birthday and xmas I buy him a tool and mount it on wood for him to hang on his bedroom wall.
The first was a spanner to fit a grey motor sump plug, the second was a sparkplug spanner, then feeler gauges..etc...etc

When he is old enough he can use them to fix the wagon and Cathys "ugly duckling"

Next dilemma  Roll Eyes
What tool should I get him if I want him to do panel beating as well as mechanical work on our FCs Huh
Something small... I can't mount a mig welder on his bedroom wall  Cheesy

I've promised him that if he does a good job fixing the "ugly duckling" he can have it for his 18th birthday
and if he doesn't do it I will need to start trying to influence one of the other 5 grandkids  Cheesy

 Cool Cool Cool

PS I've just realised the red/white sedan is an FC and both taxis are FEs             so he might be getting a taxi  Grin
PS PS does anyone have any idea on their value/collectability/rarity ?

Hi Graham, the Opal series FC (non Taxi) is your most valuable. Even the crappy coloured ones start at $120 The red and ivory one that you have could easily fetch $150. The yellow cab FC is still available for $49 + postage and the FE taxi is around the same price.
Hope this helps with your dilemma. (panel beaters could use a couple of rolls of masking tape  Cheesy)
Cheers Stewy   Cool

Perhaps a panel beaters dream set (one piece each year for the next seven years).

Multi meter and test lamp would be something a young boy would actually use.. Can test house hold batteries charging systems, and the lights on grandpa's trailer.. Good skills to be learnt from an early age.. Us sparkies aren't cheap these days.. Unless you have a sweet old fc, then I'm free of charge Smiley

Ha ha, won't that go down well at school?

School friend: "What did your grandfather give you for your birthday, Brayden?"
Brayden: "A dolly"
School friend: "What? You play with dolls?"
Brayden "I'm getting one every year until I'm 16, then I get a hammer!"
School friend: "Right..." [backs away slowly]
