Thanks FCRB26
I tested the fuel pump ( undid the fuel line and started the car - fuel came out) after that I removed the jets one either side of the carby and they were OK ,
Should I remove the jets inside the carb and test ??

Is fuel getting to the bowl properly . The start and stop sounds like a needle and seat problem or a float level problem . More like a needle and seat because it eventually refills the bowl enough to start. Haydn

Check that your fuel pick up isn't blocked.

Thanks for the replies
I had a good look to try and find out whats going on
And Colt I reckon you've hit it on the head, ( Ive got some gunk in the fuel tank )
I undid the fuel line just before the filter that's before the fuel pump and stuck my air gun up the
fuel line and blew the @#$& out of it.
Problem fixed. for a little while any way,
so now I'll remove the fuel tank and clean it out.
Thanks for the help
