HI Does anyone know which is the correct position of the battery in stock fe
Do the terminals sit on the engine side near the battery holder or are they on the lh inner guard side
Thanks for any advise

Terminals near the retainer,  it's the only way the leads will fit with the battery pole diameters being different.

I have seen many photos on different cars with battery in both positions ,with the positive terminal towards the starter motor

The original battery bracket has a steel clip welded to it to carry the negative lead. Haydn

Ted check out original photos of period cars for the correct information. Batteries from other cars have different pole diameters and positions and can be adapted to fit with creativity. Correct original position is with poles towards the retainer.

Battery pole identification.  The large pole is always the (+) positive one and the small pole is always the (-) negative one !!
