Have come to a dead end searching for the clips that hold the front and rear windscreen stainless trim to the windscreen rubber. Mine have disintegrated long ago. The rear screen trim is the narrow fe type.
Thanks, Gary.

Wow, never seen these clips anywhere. I've only had one FE with the narrow trim and luckily the trim was ok and I left the rear screen in place.

Just put my rear screen rubber on ( rare spares) and there is no rib on the rubber that the original clips would clamp onto, which means original type clips would be useless. This rubbers are only made for the fc special type moulds. So thanks anyway but Im thinking if you want to use the narrow type trim in the aftermarket rubber you need to make your own fixings.

Possibly, just possibly - would the trim retaining clips be the same as for FJ Specials? In which case could you use the same profile rubber seal as the FJ Special?
Maybe Ken could advise further.

Yep, parts book says they are the same. Are FJ ones available? If FJ rear screen rubber is available as a continuous length then it could be done.

FJ rubber will not fit the FE as it is a 'H' rubber, which means one end of the rubber fits over the body then the screen fits in on top of that, so the screen is smller than the opening. The locking strip is the part that has the moulded lip for the clips to grab onto. All other early Holdens use an 'S' type rubber where the screen sits lower than the flange itself, so the screen is bigger than the opening. You will find the only repo. rubbers for the FE-FC are either standard(no chrome) or special(slotted for chrome moulds. Hope this helps, Jim

There are now 2 56 Elk Blue Specials here in Sydney, with the 'thin 56' chrome look strip within reproduction rubber. Currently both have a 'plastic-chrome look' spreader insert. I do not have the exact rubber profile part number at hand, I think it is a Jaguar profile, and I just purchased a length from Spectrum Rubber. When I removed the original, all the mild steel clips were intact, including the 4 special corner pins. To complete my install, and reinstate the original thin chrome trims, I have had made up custom ss retaining/spacer clips. The plastic spacer bead will be removed, and replaced by the original ss trim, all held in place by the custom ss clips. It is do-able!

Thanks fellas I had a look through my spare clips etc yesterday and found that the clips for the rear paint divider trim on my fc fit into the narrow rear screen trim. If I trim down the tang with the rounded end and put a 2mm 90 deg bend in that end they will sit in the rubber just fine and the small 90 will lock them in. I have spoken to Pete who now makes these clips and hopefully I can buy a heap and all should be good. Geoff, my fe is a 56 elk blue/teal blue special just wondering if these are the only fe's with that narrow trim? Thank again for all the help.

Well that sounds like good news! My two tone green 56 FE had the narrow trim. According to the parts book, all FE up to body number 20620A, 1672M & 11235S all had the thin trim.

It turns out that Rare Spares sells an FJ Special windscreen mould clip set (WSC0003), containing 20 clips.
