Little tip, I now run Tapatalk 2 on iphone but still have the original tapatalk for umm lesser forums? You can run multiple forums on the one app with a Tapatalk ID too.

Sorry for being stupid   but a caveman has more skill than me with this modern technology 
 
I have just bought my first smart phone    Samsung Galaxy S4     (Cathy got the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini)

I am just figuring out how to make calls and send texts   
(This thing seems to have a mind of it's own !)

What's an APP ?  How do I put one one my phone ? Do I do it by my desktop computer or by the phone (or both/either ?)

I've bought it now so I can practice because...
I want to do my Nats Travel Diary (with all the usual photos and story) by using my mobile phone so that I don't need to drag a laptop around the country in April.
Can I use Tapatalk to do this ?
The Tapatalk site doesn't mention Tapatalk2 ? Is this just an updated version with the same name ?

My apologies again
I need step by step instructions (with pics)
Then I can usually manage by myself (sometimes)

Good choice of phone ! Basically a pocket computer .
Look for the play store app icon . It looks like a white handbag with a symbol in the middle . Create an account .. then download any apps you want . You do this on your phone via wifi or 3g when your roaming around town .

YouTube is your friend- look up how to videos on what you want or simply search for "how to use the dam thingy"
Although it is annoying watching idiot 15 year old phone masters tell YOU how to use it.
I bought my mum an iPhone 4 and ipad 3. She hangs at the apple store and has mastered it. Now when she is out grey nomadding with the caravan she shows everyone how to do stuff!
She did however just call and ask how to turn up the ring volume!!!

Muddled my way through to finding Tapatalk and the FE FC Holden Forum
when I tap on it...
it opens up on   Timeline 
if I tap on the word  Timeline(at top left of phone screen)   it takes me to a menu with           Join.  Timeline(highlighted). Browse.  Search.
I tap on   Browse   it gives me another menu with       General.  Technical Board.  Galleries.  For Sale, Wanted.
tap on    General
gives me a menu with        General Board.  FE FC Holden Nationals.  Events Shows etc.
tap on     General Board
gives me the General board topics
Tap on my Ho Ho Ho post  ( It calls me surferboyACE ?)
I can read  my post and the replies
This is about step 15 in MY way of doing things 

How do I post stuff and reply etc

I'm sure I'll get there eventually   
but my 4 hour lunchbreak has finished and I've got to get back to work

I can't see any symbol for camera / photo / twitter bird thing when I hit Reply
It gives me an option of quick reply or a plus sign in a circle for a normal reply but neither has camera/photo/twit symbols 

 

Now I'm going to be late for work (again  )

Looks like you got it just fine mate. Now wait till you figure out that it will ping you when someone quotes you or replies to subscribed threads (or be logged on to the EK forum at the same time)

AND you can also get rid of the GT 19505 signature as well!

When you are typing in tapatalk

right down the bottom left hand side of the key pad is a buttom "SYM"
Click on that and you will see a smiley face to the right of that click on that and you have a ton of icons..

there not as big as the normal forum icons tho.

Those symbols do show up on any computer or phone that supports Emoji. But If you want the standard forum icons, you just have to type them, i.e.
