"Shiny Bits"

Thanks Jim,
All the photos look great, I like the under bonnet shot of my old girl (yellow and black). She was the one parked beside "Effie C". I would appreciate a zip file also to add to the ones I took.

For the forum watchers !!!
An update, poor old "Effie C" had gearbox trouble at Nerang on the way up, I can vouch for the serious growls, well $1400.00 later he has found a repairer on the Gold Coast who will have it finished tomorrow and he should be heading for home Saturday !!

I dont know what happened but his luck has rubbed off. I headed home for Canberra on Monday morning with a pickup at Grafton required. I will also remember the big Avacado at Tweed as this is where "old bess" or "shiny bits" as "Effie C" calls it decided to seize the motor. Who would of thought after 1000 miles of trouble free motoring she would turn her toes up. I have a serious post mortem to do on the motor, will let you know what happened.
On a lighter night I rate the NRMA "PLUS" on the insurance a real bonus, they picked Bess up and took her to Murwillumbah and locked her in a compound, and she will be trucked ungracefully to my door on Monday. NRMA organised a hire car (FORD I might add) and I will get home tommorrow. Now is a chance to do the motor the way I wanted as the previous owner had done this one.

It was a great rally and good to meet users of the Forum

I seriously recommend you try to make it to Jindabyne in 2005 and remember the fun is being there not who wins the trophys

Cheers ChrisB  Cool

Hi Chris
Sorry to here about Bess. May be you and John should have brought that FB I told you about. You could have had the Motor John the Gearbox and I could have taken the rest off your hands for free. I need all those Nasco bits for my car. All up it would have only cost $650.

I hope to catch up with you Bess Jon and Effie C in 2005.

Hi Brad
Yes My car is from Adelaide. I was the one with the handbrake and transport  problam.

I have here Here now and have started to work on her. I have to replace the sills I think passenger side will be first. But my first mission is to get her back on the road.

I am slowly but surley working my way through that huge list you all gave me.

Not long now.

Well done, Jim, a big thank you for the shots.   It was the next best thing to being there.   If you don't make "guru" there should be a special category for you..."Legend".     Cheers ,   Mike.   P>S>   Great to see Craig's and the other two cars showing the "Poo" flag!! Grin Grin

Hi all,
Firstly I like to say that "hey, it was great to see most of the cars here on the the coast".
I missed most of you on the Saturday, as you were all leaving. (I got there extremely late, DON'T ask).
I met Phil and a couple of others anyway.

I dragged my missus out of the house on Sunday to see the show'n'shine at Curumbin but Murphy's law prevailed and it rained. (Bloody typical)

Lastly, I offered the use of my yard and house to anyone who needed it and included my phone number etc.
I now find out that someone (Efee-C?) shit itself and needed $1400 worth of repairs.
Well I would have loved to help you but as that old Telstra ad stated "Why didn't ya call"
I'd have helped you gratis.
Goodluck and good riddance.
(In case you're wondering, yes Steve is 9/10 pissed whilst writing this.)  Tongue

Sorry to hear of your problem, but MATE I feel mis-used.
We COODA piched parts of the FE to get you home and replaced them rather than pay BIG bucks NOWWWWW.

Sirry ,10/10 pissed but wouda helped you.

Steve, dont be annoyed.  No one expects to break down and like others I read your kind offer of assistance before the nats but omitted to record your number.  If I had broken down later on after the nats I would have been in the same position.  Just having to pay for repairs wherever they could be found.
Please don't think that everybody ignored you, as you sound like a genuine guy who would do anything to help.
It's just that if a guy didn't write your number down, it's too late when your sitting beside the road with a car that wont go.
We all do appreciate your offer and I look forward to catching up with you at a nats sometime.

G'Day Jim
I have arrived back in the land of snow and ice and just love the pictures you have posted. What a pity it only happens every second year.
The FE FC Faternity needs to get together more often.
Thanks for all your efforts and look forward to catching up again

G'Day Steve
As Ken has stated read the offer before hand but at the time forgot all about it, did not have your number with me and Telstra does not list "stevo56" in their phone book.
The total cost to rebuild the box ( New main shaft, input shaft and idler shaft, bearings and "Recon" the syncro's), new slave cyclinder and to supply and fit new clutch plate rebuilt pressure plate and to machine the flywheel $1270.00. 12 month 20 thou K warranty (I wonder which will come first).
All this within the holiday period. Thanks to all that offered and thanks to the FB-EK club person 'GP' rang as he recommended GABBA GEARBOXERS who did the job.
I can now also recommend them to all.
I even tried to buy Ron Cooks car,if anyone has his contact number I am still interested in buying it.

Hi John

You would not believe it I had Stevo's number in my mobile and his offer did not even enter my mind.

I was ment to meet up with him so he could look at my speedo (I have fixed it now, It is amazing what coke can be used for)

As for the 2 year thing, I think the clubs NSW,QLD & ACT should organise a yearly run to meet up at a central location for one long weekend some time between now and the next nationals.

I also hope you get a life time of miles out of your gearbox before it need a rebuild again.

As for Rons Car, We have club meeting on Wednesday I will ask him for you. I think his number is listed in the QLD club page ??

Hope to catch up with you soon. I have sent you one of my Zips, if you want the rest pm me.

There where more streeters than "Show Cars", ifyou enjoy driving your car you would fit in just fine.
