I guess its "period correct" that is to say it was built in the days when crushed velour interiors were the done thing on the show scene, along with jag rears, chunky white letter tyres etc.
Its not my thing either but I do remember seeing this van as well as the Alley Cat show van at a show years ago and the workmanship is really quite well done, its a bit of a time capsule on wheels. Wink

I'd love to have that in my shed!!!  Cool

I saw one of those Monza front clips at the dump not so long ago. Probably would've grabbed it too if I owned anything HQ-WB

Had a look for that ute, but no luck.
I did come across this 1 that I thought fitted in here.

I can recall Checkmate when it hit the show scene in the early 80's.
Was (and still looks to be) a very well put together and presented van for the time.
Here are a few pics I took of it at the 83 Hot Rod Show at Bankstown.

Of course you have pics Alex!  nice, it looks better in the show setting.

In the latest SM mag there is a guy who is tragically addicted to the 80's vans... not my cup of tea though, although I used to have a collection of CV&T mags and even owned a CF Bedford... I like vans, just not in the 80's style.

now I do like that HIllman Hunter... did I say that??

Yep ,thats the way we did em up in the early 80's , plenty of crushed velvet, mirror tiles, chrome and murals! There were a lot of vans down my way then, Foxy Lady, Spidervan and The General to name a few. Don't know what happened to them all, probably all made into Commodore wheels and beer cans.
