Hey all I want to make a homemade engine test stand with ignition setup to test and start engines out of the car, can anyone tell me how to wire one up please with push button start or key.

Basically you just need a wire that shorts the starter solenoid wire to battery positive.

+12VDC>>Switch>>Starter Solenoid

You will also need to provide 12Volts to the coil positive to keep it running.

Best then to use an old ignitiion switch which has three wires:

1 goes to battery +ve (common)
1 goes to coil +ve (switched)
1 goes to starter solenoid (momentary)
