I have just purchased and fitted Pertronix Ignition Module kit No 1864A from Warehouse Auto Supplies in the USA,kit was easy to fit with only minor grinding of the advance arm bracket for clearance of the magnetic ring.
Engine starts quicker and runs smoother and I am sure it accelerates quicker than before.I also fitted the optional high output coil they recommended, puts out heaps of spark compared with original coil.
Got the whole lot in Air Satchel 5 days ex USA for under $195.00 Aud.Very Happy, was quoted $300.00 just for Ign kit and $95.00 for the coil locally(SA).Talk to Phil,a really helpful guy.

Hi John,
Check out this thread:
http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,14835.msg94287.html#msg94287
in particular the 13th post which inc;udes a link to the Mercedes site which shows how it's done. Was easy to fit on my FC Ute following these directions.

Geez Trevor, thanks for the link with the step by step blurb & pics, that looks easy enough for even me to tackle, & when it's done, no more points.

Looks pretty much unchanged except for the missing condensor, & you could probably even leave it there unconected if you wanted an original look.

Are you going to give it a go John?

Hi Trevor,

Just enquiring about which model dissy, the fit up looks easy. There appears to be Bosch long numbers with no reference my model number.

Zulu, looking at this stage.

Cheers

Hi John,
My dissy is just a standard FC one - Bosch VJU6BR30. I used the Pertronix Ignition Module kit No 1864A.

Looks to me any dissy that Bosch GB504 points should be fine.

Was an easy job - while I used a small bench grinder to modify the bracket (as described in the instructions and on the Mercedes site) although you could user a file, just take a bit longer. No need to set any gaps etc, just screw it down. I took my dissy out so had to re-time the dissy so needed timing light of course. All up took around 45 mins.
