Hi all, Found these photos whn digging though some old photo boxes at my mum and dads place. They are from my mums side of the family and unfortunatley her memory of them is not that great so I have no real background on them yet. I have asked my uncle to give me a heads up on when, where, who and any other history I can get on the cars..............enjoy the pics in the mean time! I do know they were my grandfathers cars and that the photos are taken somewhere in North Queensland.   Car under the house a little hard to see  MICK |

I know my grandfather was a policeman COULD have something to do with that, however I doubt the family car would have been used for that purpose?  ? |

They were an accessory for earlier GM models up to FX and FJ but I don't think they continued past there.
Could be wrong but I don't recall seeing them in later literature.

They were a Nasco accessoy option also, as well as being universal fitments. I had some service bulletins & one of them showed fittment options for these on an HR holden. I also think I saw one in an HK T G Nasco accessories catalogue I used to have.

These do indeed appear in the 1970 NASCO Accessories catalogue: CARRIER - Water Bag
This highly chromed tubular steel Carrier enables water to be carried on long trips.
Carrier...... HD, HR, HK, HT, HG (exc. Premier & Brougham) ...... p/no 7438292 I guess the Premier/Brougham bumpers are different in some way? |

I think you actually have a copy of that old catalogue of mine, Ret? G'day, mate btw  Yea, the bulletin I had was stressing the importance of not putting in front of radiator grill or any lights etc... I think Brougham had a different bumber, but not sure about Prem. I do recall that because of different cars, different mounting brackets were required. Due to depth of bumpers & location of mounting. But, as far as I am aware, the actual frame is the same. Rob J |

The bumpers on Prems & Broughams are the same as the standard cars. It must be so as not to block the inner headlamps.

Hi all, Doing some more digging through old family photos (following the passing of my grandmother) and found a couple of new family photos.   Again my mother doesn't have much memory of the cars so cant really fill you in on any of the details. I do know they are QLD cars and all photos were more than likely taken in North Queensland. Cheers for the replies Goldie,
Don't think the cars would ever have been that far North (perhaps on family holidays). I know the family spent some time in Rockhampton, Emerald and Isisford so can only assume the photos are taken in that vicinity.

Hi guys was having a talk to my uncle about some of these old family cars started asking him about the water bag holder which has been discussed above. Apparently the one fitted to their FC wasn't actually a NASCO accessory, my grandfather had it specially made and chromed! While I was there I had a dig through a lot of his old photos and came up with a few more shots from the 60s featuring our favorite FEs and FCs, hope you enjoy! Surfers Paradise 1960  Coolongatta 1960  My uncles FC, unknown location 1960  Bolsover St Rockhampton 1960  My other uncles FE with a few of my cousins Mid 1960s  Similar photo to one I previously posted with a Vauxhall passing, particularly interesting for me because not only do I have an FC I also have an old Vauxhall (not that model)  MICK |
