G'day, My names Leigh. Im new to the forum, Picked myself up this FC off a bloke down Melbourne i've had it for about 12 months now and i've decided to start it (always busy on the farm). Shes pretty rough but it is a good starting point, There a little bit of rust in the body and floors but nothing you cant fix with a bit of work. Most the chrome is fairly faded and will have to get re-done.... Can't work out how to put pics on??

Hey Leigh Nice looking project to start with. Looks fairly sound, just the usual problems. Must be handy having a pit in the garage, should make things a bit easier. Good luck with the project, and keep us updated. Regards Alex

Hi Muzzie Saw the shot of your dad's car on the other thread. I can see how it's motivated you to build yours which should look very striking in candy apple red with pearl white flash. And, the Charger in the background above? A future project? Kathi F4+ = ^^=

Hi Kathi, The charger is my mrs's car, she loves bloody valiants, im a holden man myself and i dont go much for chargers or any valiant in fact. The charger was done up by the owner before her and he done a very good job, she has had it for about 7-8 years now and the motor has driven up to chryslers on the murry every year in Albury. Anyway enough about valiants. Leigh

If you haven't grown up by 50, you don't have to.

Geez you've got sharp eyes spotting that charger Kathi, I'm still having trouble picking it even though i know it's there Pedro

Nice car Muzzie, can you supply details of the ID plate and chassis number. The car looks to be Ice green and White with Black and White interior - a very unusual combination. I'm interested to confirm the ID plate details.
Regards Ken

Hi All, Done a bit more last night, pulled the motor out thats when i found the gearbox mount was broken and the engine mount was stuffed. I took a pic of the rust in the engine bay and i was wondering if anyone can tell me what i can do here? Can you buy a repair panel or make somthing? Thanks Muzzie.

Those trim and paint/insert numbers don't match too well. I'm guessing the paint is 7770, India Ivory but the trim code says single colour Ice Green.
Nice car though. I had not seen the black and white interior in anything other than the Terraglow cars.

My suggestion would be to find another front subframe for that side as the rust may be more extensive than it appears. hope this helps Frank

No patch panel available - it is all handmade in this area. There will probably be rust on the other side of this box section as well.
The paint code is quite rare. 401 is Ice green and India Ivory. This car was part of a batch of cars made to experiment with new FB colour schemes. The 400 series includes Volcanic grey and white, Ice green and white and Cape Ivory (yellow) and white. These 3 colours went on to be very popular as pastels in the FB along with the softened Terraglow and mushroom combination. They had new names then and slightly different hues, but essentially the ides was there. My guess is that there was only one run of these cars and that only a few hundred of each colour were made. All the cars I have data from date to around the same time in 1959
