I thought I would start a new thread dedicated to my first rebuild. This is where I started This is where I finished up today I also picked up this HR disc brake front end today Stripped the sub frame off the new front end. All in all a fairly productive day except for when I took the HSV in to find a vibration & found a broken engine mount & worn out radius arm bushes . I will be going to look at some 13x7 white wheels over the weekend as well, hopefully he will let me put them on hold till a little further along on the rebuild. Dean.

If you haven't grown up by 50, you don't have to.

Hey Pedro, yes I am a bit stuck for room under the house so that just adds to the fun of it all. The car is a sedan & I am on the same boat as you in regards to trying to do the rebuild on a budget. When I get her down to her undies I will look into some of those stripping discs that Kathi John posted about in your thread.
Dean.

G'day Dean, good to have someone else going down the same path at the same time as me, we can share info. and keep each other motivated, those discs work all right but for the amount of money saved and the effort you have to put in sandblasting is a much better option, Hey Dean( Smithy ) you better get moving on your project or we might be on the road before you ,

Well not much to report on at the moment, work has gotten in the way. Good news is that I have obtained a HR diff for the price of a couple of bottles of Mona-Vie. The guy also has a fully reco'ed grey motor which I am going to purchase, so the delema of motor choice is now over.
I will be doing a little work to the grey ie twin carbs, bigger cam, decent exhaust & a mild port job & bigger valves on one of the heads I have of the rebuild cars.I will be keeping the 3 speed crash box hopefully putting on a floor shifter. Now the search will be on for some alloy dress up bits.
Dean.

Hey Dean thats cool, I actually had computer trouble, someone got the password to my ebay account and ebay noticed and suspended all my activity. That car has quite a lot of potential as a rebuilder so you have done well. Roy

Well seeing as how I have just given Smithy a nudge I should let him know what I have ben up to...........Nothing . Been bsuy at work & had a big dose of the lazies. with the way work on the Ballina by-pass looks to be going I am going to be fairly busy for the next couple of years . Not much time for playing with the car so it is off to the panel beaters, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Today I chose the colours, but that's a secret for the moment. So that is my not much progress report . Dean.

Second guard, front beaver panel & half the bootlid stripped back today. The second guard off the original car was a little worse than I thought so it was replaced with one I had in stock ie, the only other one I had . Found a little more bog but nothing too serious. I will hopefully get the bootlid done tomorrow & maybe the bonnet. It is amazing how doing those few jobs has sparked up the enthusiasm. Dean.

Well the bonnet & bootlid are now stripped & with no nasty surprises . I am now thinking about sending something off to be re-chromed so I have a shiney carrot to chase . Stay tuned for the next exciting episode "the sanding of the doors" . Dean.
