This news has just hit the web.
Boyd Coddington has passed away.

"World-renowned tuner and hot rod king Boyd Coddington died at 6:20 am this morning. The cause of death is still unknown. Coddington, founder of Boyds Wheels and designer of prize-winning custom cars, had recently been hospitalized twice for an undisclosed medical condition. Although he was though to be in recovery, rumors of his untimely death began circulating today throughout the forums. A spokesperson for Boyd Coddington's corporation has confirmed that those rumors are true. The company will be releasing a statement later today."

This is sad news for the hot rodding and custom car community.
Like him or not, you have to appreciate the impact he had on our hobby.
Both his cars and himself added some character.

R.I.P Boyd.

Regards
Alex

The passing of Boyd  is relay sad news to the Hot Rodding  World. What this man was capable of creating with his visions is only equaled by a hand full of other men in the world. "TEAR UP HOT ROD HEAVEN BOYD".....FC427.....

Sad news....!! I read it on the HAMB boards yesterday arvo....
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246079

I believe they're going to have a massive hot rod gathering in his honour this weekend now!

I enjoy watching his show on the Discovery Channel..... The quality and design of the cars he produced was awesome!! Top shelf stuff!!

He didn't seem to always treat his workers all that well (reminded me of my bosses Grin ) but he was a good guy.....

He'll be missed!!

Cry Cry  Another loss of creativeness.  He was a perfectionist in his work.  Loved his plymouth.  Cheer Hotlips

RIP BOYD

What a sad day for us all, I have followed his styling of vehicles for years and it never seemed to amaze me at how different some of his creations were. He was a true artist and a genius at being able to create a drawing then replicate that vehicle. The clean lines, always uncluttered look have set the standards alot of us try to imitate which is the sincerest form of flattery. The world will be poorer for his loss.

I was just reading on another forum that Lil John Buttera also passed away the same day Boyd did.
Many may credit Boyd for inventing the billet wheel, but it was infact Lil John who first used billet wheels on a car.
Lil John built some landmark rods as well as some famous drag cars.
RIP Lil John.

Liked the creations.

Couldn't have worked for him though.

He carried on a bit, like he was always gunna blow a gasket - I suppose it was heart trouble.

Wish I had money to be able to afford one of his cars.......
