Snapped rocker gear bolt

Snapped a rocker gear bolt today putting my replacement grey motor head on (one of the long boths that secure the rocker gear onto the head).  It has snapped level with the head.  Anyone got some bright ideas for getting it out, I hate drilling and using easy outs, they never work for me, who ever called them easy outs was a bloody liar

Good luck with that one.Apart from easy outs...I have seen someone cut a slot into the top of the bolt with a Dremel or die grinder using one of those miniature cutting discs then using a flat head screw driver to get the bolt out.This of course will only work depending on how tight the bolt already is and how much bolt you have to work with (risk cutting into the head).Could you weld onto the top of the bolt to add some length to it?All these things obviously produce grit which could get into your rocker gear/oil galleries.Or you could just buy another head gasket and take the head off...Cheers,  Jamie :-/

I have had good success mig welding a bolt ground to a point onto the broken stud.  This is what we use for removing brocken off bleeder screws in calipers and believe me - they are tight!
