Out of curiosity, are the brackets required to convert bench seat to camp lay back seat still avialable?

TTBOMK they were never commercially available as a kit.  Camping body conversions were generally done by coach-building firms, who more than likely designed and manufactured their own components to suit the application.

I have a camping front seat in my FC and it doesn't appear to be very safe. If the top of the seat is pushed forward the hinge mechanism releases and allows the seat to fold down. Is this normal for these seats or is something wrong with the mechanism.
Thanks in advance. PS sorry to hijack your post NES.

Not unheard of.  My Dad's modified FC has a camping body in it, and it has been known to lay back by itself with a quick take-off.  Very disconcerting if you're the passenger (at least the driver has hold of the wheel...)

Is that how the seat is supposed to be released, or does it have a handle on the driver's side to operate it?  If the latter, perhaps you should get someone to look at it.

cheers

It has the handle on the drivers side to release it. The other method of folding it down is just a bonus. I would have loved a car with a seat like this when I was 17. Not that I would have got to use it much, but I could have told my mates I did. Grin
