My bonnet is missing a nut where the mounting spring connects, any ideas on how to replace it?

Hey Marc,

Is it where the hinge joins, or the spring at the front?

Get a piece of 2mm plate about 25 x 50, drill a hole in it & weld a new nut on.
Then drill a couple of holes in the bonnet just above and below the broken out captive nut, hold the plate in place with a screwdriver then plug weld the plate in place.
Trying to weld a nut in place in the hole is difficult as it is hard to get the nut square and easy to get weld in the threads.

and put a temporary bolt into the nut when welding - it is the best way to protect the thread.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Jason,
its where the hinge bolts too.

I was told that they (nut) are put in like a rivet.... I don't have or have ever seen a rivet gun like that??
