I think a sedan's worth is in the vicinity of 12m.  I thought Rares had this stuff, but gold fleck was hard to come by.

(Hang on, I'll check. Talk amongst yourselves.)

Nope, other way around.  Rares have Black/Gold, $11.47/m, less Club Discount.

It only takes a few years for the gold to fade to silver, if that's any help. Wink

cheers

Thanks RET.
Handy to know and a damn good fall back option indeed!
(you were serious about the gold fleck fading to silver after time?).

Is black/silver what was in your car?  It's worth noting that FEs had wind-lacing in a variety of colours.  Geoff_K or Ken might be able to tell you what the correct colour should be for your interior trim.

I had a look in the MPC, and as always, learnt something.  Actually, several things.  The wind-lacing was sold in 40' lengths, which is marginally more than 12m (12.192m to be precise).  Secondly, black/gold was not an original colour for FE or FC!  According to the book, the available colours were:

FE:
River Turquoise, Lantern Blue, Black with Silver Fleck, Flamingo Red, Anzio Green, Gazelle Tan, Atoll Green, Leaf Red, Apex Blue, and Holster Brown

FC:
Black with Silver Fleck, or Black

This is a 48-FB MPC, so it's not that black/gold would have been a later addition.  What's also interesting is that there is no listing for "WINDCORD" for FB anywhere.  Did FBs not have this?

cheers

Thanks RET,
No go on the trim id. research-
Long story... best  we... (o.k. Ken) can figure it, car was involved in major re-build in 1961 using a brand new Business sedan body shell (therefore explaining no trim info. being stamped on i.d. plate (just the part no. for said new body shell). Black with sliver fleck is what it has had for what looks like a very long time.
The interior is two tone grey Cobweb grey/Parchment Ivory from memory?
(We picked the correct year because there are the letters VP (Victoria Police) stamped in the serial number on the body).

I meant to add that the numbers 61 (1961) were together with the VP prefix/suffix. Embarrassed

Ret
You are correct in your assumption .  FB- EK were devoid of windlacing . On the dozen or so that I have owned I'v not seen an inch of it on any of them.

How did you go with your wind lacing, I got mine from Rare Spares after a lot chasing, if you want the part number I can dig it up.

if you really get stuck, daileys have a few different colours but no metallic threads in it, instead it has a silvery grey thread through it, I cant remember if they had black.
