Most might already know this trick, but you never know.
I have been using it to test wiring on the black FE and will be doing the same to track the leak causing the FC Wagon's battery to go flat.

When disconnecting/reconnecting the battery earth you will get a little arc when there is something using battery power. eg If you disconnect your battery with the ignition off and you get an arc, this means there is something drawing on the battery.

If you do it in the dark, it's even easier to see.

Another way is to disconnect the positive terminal and connect a multimeter, set to volts, on the battery terminal and the battery lead.  You will get a reading if something is draining the battery.

Of course this will only work if you don't have an elec clock, security system or other electrical device that remains on drawing power.
