G'day all, just wondering if it it's legal to change the mounts on a diff yourself or do you have to get an exchange one with certification.

Pedro Just do it :-X there are no laws saying you cant weld on your own car ...except for welding forged components ..stub axles  steering arms etc ......FC427.....
As I lay rubber down the street I pray for traction I can keep, but if I spin and begin to slide please dear god protect my ride

Thanks Mark, It'll save me a lot of dough on an exchange one if i can do it myself.

Pedro make sure you don't add too much heat - welding spring mounts is the easiest way to put a slight bend in the housing and will give you axle grief later on.
FC 427 is 100% right - if your engineer looks at your welds and he sees quality - all is well. If he sees poor welding he will question it. So if you're skills are fine there is no problem at all.

Thanks Ken I'll keep that in when I'm welding, It's a fairly easy job really(compared to bogging anyway) it's just the legal side of things i was worried about.
