Hi team, I am chasing two chrome headlight surrounds in good usable condition.

I have some painted ones that I can get chromed but it is a long lead time and pretty expensive, so I am hoping to find some good quality chrome surrounds that could do the job. If you have a couple that you are keen to move on please let me know.

Craig ..There are different type s, There is the GMH one and Lucas one , they dont quite interchange , but they can and will fit , there is a slight difference in the inner lip where it houses in the guard ..Vern .
these days i'm half as good for twice as long

Thanks - I am aware but thought the difference was in the way they suited the headlight. If I am right as long as I have a "pair" they will look the same despite the monr difference between them. Is that correct?

Craig. The painted ones are "gold', because they will rechrome really well. The diecast becomes pitted over time through the chrome. It is difficult to chase the pitting when preparing for electroplating. You probably know that painted headlight surrounds were standard for the commercial vehicles. Chrome ones were an optional extra. The specials [ 225] were  chromed. I stripped vehicles out west on farm car dumps just to secure painted h/light & tail light surrounds & bottom grille bar, [if I could find them], for my restos. If your painted h/light surrounds are not pitted, then I would go with them for chroming.  Kevin.

I took 6 of them to a swap meet yesterday and couldn't even give them away....... all have pitting to varying degrees - is it worth hanging onto them or do I bin them ???
I spent most of my money on beer , fast cars and women - the rest I just wasted.
