I have just purchased a high quality harmonic balancer puller and I was told to "put something on the end of the crank" to prevent driving the puller bolt/pin into the crank. Has anyone heard of this being a problem? If so, what would be a suitable item/technique to prevent this happening?

Thanks
Dave

spose you could put a small round bit of sheet there.. maybe centre punch it to keep it in place.

Cheers

Dave

I have.  I borrowed one from an old retired mechanic.  He had a round disk ( around 4mm thick) as part of the set, said it stopped the point digging into the crank and spreading it.
