I have block drilled for a black head, the engine shop used a standard black/blue gasket for template but there were only 4 holes in the gasket but 5 in the head.
I want to stick my head on, sould I drill out the 5th hole or is it left blank in the headgasket for a reason or is there a mistake in the headgasket.

i am about to drill out my block in the next week or so and according to the machine shop doing my 12 port head there is one hole already in the 186 block that will need to be blocked off ( not present in head).
they seem to think that the head gasket is sufficient enough to block off the unused water jacket. the other way would be either weld up the old hole Before getting the block decked or the easier way would be to use a grub screw.
hope this helps a bit

hi leon, how did you go with drilling the water holes. did you get the extra hole issue sorted?

finnaly getting around to driling mine out but just want to check with you first over any problems faced.
can you remember what size the grub screws are, as i dont have access to a micrometer.

also what pushrods are you using, the ones from the 186 or from the 202?
cheers heaps
