rear leaf springs.. is this right ?

this doesnt look right to me ..
the leaf that hangs underneath on both sides is why i`m asking this question .

i thought they were all connected together .
both sides look to be done the same..

would this be an add on at some stage ?
did early wagons have a different set up ?
maybe fe wagons had this set up ?
or is this normal .. and i`m waisting peoples time ?

my wagon has no spring like pictured.

is it a helper spring?

cant remember how many leaves I have, will count later.

Hi Cooleride,
These are called uplifting springs often used when towing to stiffen up the suspension. They can also be used if the springs have sagged. I have a set on my car that go the full length of the leaf springs,  I also have spare set just like yours.

I Know them as override springs. I have a set fitted to my sedan that were dealer fitted from new as the original owner used to Tow a lot. They are a very good option even more so for wagons as they tend to need as much rear end support as possible.
