Here's a cool advert just in time for the Nationals.
It's a Holden advert showing their involvement with the Torch Relay for the 1956 Olympic Games, and how FE's were provided to accompany the torch from Cairns to Melbourne. This ad was found in an Olympic supplement from the Argus newspaper of November 21, 1956.

Here is a close up of the text, makes great reading.

The car art close up.

Great stuff Alex.

Typical Victorians, they must have gone down the New England Highway. Anything to avoid mentioning Sydney! Wink

Cheers

I can't figure out how to make map bigger and easier to read.
The route followed the coast from Cairns to Sydney than went via Goldburn, Canberra, Cootamundra, Wagga Wagga, Albery, Benalla, Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong than into Melbourne.

Hey dnb
That brochure is cool.
Talking about the relay, here is an item from the step before Cairns.

Looking at the postmarks, there was 20 days between Athens and Melbourne.
