Huh Gday every body out there, this my first post and question.
The fe fc horn buttons does any one know which models came from the factory with the gold centered horn buttons and which came with the blue center.
Its something that has me puzzled as there dosnt seem to be any real pattern to them.
Im sure that some one will know.

Welcome steamman.  You'll find the topic of variegated Shocked horn-button centres provokes quite a bit of controversy around here.  There was a thread on the topic only recently.

The long and the short of it appears to be:

- blue was the standard and most common colour of horn buttons for both FE and FC.
- aged horn-buttons can appear to have a gold centre, but most often this is due to the original blue colour fading out
- small numbers of horn-buttons appear to have been produced with green/violet/gold and brown centres rather than blue.  They aren't recorded as parts with trim-codes in their own right, and they are extremely rare, so whether they were deliberately manufactured like that (perhaps as samples) or were accidents due to variations in dyes and processing is unknown.

Hope that's some help, (and doesn't fan those flames again Roll Eyes)

cheers

Thanks for the reply ret, that sheds some light on the dilemmer.
I have blue centered button which came from an fc ute at the culcairn tip (southern nsw) about 25 years ago and it is just about mint, although the ute wasnt it had been crushed from about every angle that you could imagine.

Steamman...welcome to the site !

Well, after your last reply, I'd say that your trip to the tip 25 years ago has just earned you a pretty packet.   Check Ebay......a near MINT FC horn button....$200 - $300.

My FC came from a tip.......well a tip manager at least, but unfortunately it didn;t have any rare collectable or sought after parts on it like your horn button.

Cheers

Hey Steamman
Welcome to the forum.
CraigA recently posted some pics of several new old stock horn buttons straight out of the box, and there was a combination of different colours.
Have fun posting and reading and watch out for the fat controllers.
Regards
Alex
