Hi,
Can anyone (ACE?) give me a pic of the modified bracket required to fit an alternator to a grey motor...there seems to be a protrusion from the block which sits in the way so I assume the bracket has to sit above this?

Also, among this mass of (presumably non-standard) wiring, does anyone recognise what the two boxes in addition to the regulator do? I am intending to pull all this out but am particularly worried by the little box since its connected to the starter solenoid...but doesn't appear in the wiring diagram:

thanks, Jonno

Hi Jonno,
I've emailed you a pic of the alternator bracket, which is a modified red motor bracket.
The 2 extra boxes look like relays of some kind, maybe for driving light, air horns etc.

my guess is that they are relays of some kind.
Driving lights?  Air horns?
Most likely the car probably had voltage drop when starting at some stage in its life, so a relay would have been fitted to give the starter full power.
But that only accounts for one relay which would be the bigger one.
I am not sure about the little box.

Its a start anyway,
