Hello All,

Currently modifying an FC with HR disc front end and Diff.
I wish to get the HR rims modified to a larger width
but dont know the maxium size I can go to. The car is
not going to be lowered in any way.

As in 6 inch, 7 inch rims for example as opposed to 4 inch
for standard rims. Tyres 205's, 215's, 225's, that sort of thing.

Any help would be great.

G'day
I have 215 on front and 225's on back 14" diameter, found that lips of guards have to be rolled foe anything greater than 6 to 6.5" wide

When I took my car to my mechanic to have the engine fitted, I put my old Torana rims on the rear, they are 13x7 with 235 wide rubber on them. I originally bought the rims from Rocca Bros (Auto Parts store) then I had them reset, I think it was by an inch, so that the rims were closer to the body. This combo looked like it wouldn't rub if the guard lips were rolled. I haven't driven it yet though.
A shorter diff might help, who knows maybe 245 or 255 may fit.
As for the front, the 13x6 with 215s were a definate no-no, althought the front end components haven't been sorted yet.
You might want to have a quick word with rego authorities too.

M ute has 2 inch blocks in the rear with a 7 inch rim originally made with the offset to suit a HG Monaro (can mesure them if you like) I had to lip the guard for clearance and they only rubbed when carrying a 308 once and 4 people in the back at the summernats ,Ute's of course have stiffer springs that I havent modified at all ,When the shackle bushes showed signs of wear the rubber touched the inner guard on cornering,by the way these were 14 by 7 with 235s 60 series so I dont think you will have any drama's if your not going to lower it/Harko..

Thanks guys.

By reading all your experience's I say 215's should have no drama'a.  I have rolled the guards aswell.

           I have 7 1/2" x 13  Torana rims on the front of my car, I bought them from "Bob Janes" years ago , as for the inner guard I have no prob's with 235/60's (HR front end)but I don't know how you would go with the outer guards cos mine are flared to take 10" slicks , also I don't know how you would go legally on the road, I think you can only widen the "track" of the car 1",
           There's a pic of my car in "racing FE's & FC's" if you want to match it with the sill,(you can't tell from the guard) it might give you some idea.

G'day Smooer,i bought a fc sedan wreck in adelaide  not long ago,which had a 6 cyl volvo disc brake diff in it.I
was also surprised to find two eight inch steelies on the
back of it sporting 265's.Im guessing because of track width,but im not sure off the offset.Volvo diffs are made by dana i think so there supposed to be preety strong.A possible option for you regarding fat rims...Goodluck............BRAD Smiley

Hey Smoo

I've got 16x7's under my ute front and rear with 225/55 tyres. Its lowered 4inches, hasn't had the lips rolled or pressed and doesn't suffer from tyre rub.

It all comes down to correct set up.
