Saturday last week The annual Odd Rods Garage crawl took place in local Wollongong area .
Some of the garages we visited were to say the least "Awesome" Guys with 2 story Garages ,Hoists ,Running side valve V8s in lounge rooms ,Supercharged big blocks revving at full song ,Lots of old Holdens as second cars and the part that will interest a lot of us guys is a guy I had tried to arrange our club to visit two years ago .
Well I hate to say it but you blokes really missed a good opportunity 2 years back and one that will almost certainly never arise again .
Whilst he still had some good grey motors and memorabilia to peruse it just didn't stand up to the after market grey stuff he has since off loaded.

These pics show the sand castings for the X2 intake manifold (They still exist) The story he told about how he came to find them in a country tip was almost a comedy routine and this guy is a real showman and entertaining to say the least.

All the cars on his property are ex championship winners that are either in excellent condition or restored to former glory.
and the photo evidence completes their picture.

Heres a few engines he had on hand and proceeded to fire up the one in the cradle - didn't sound nothing like a baby though.
Imagine one of these wickid grey motors on full song as it fans past you sideways in the cool night air at the speedway on a Saturday night - Must have been great back in the day.
Sorry I cant give much info about the engines in the pics ,This stop was later in the day and I get along real well with a bunch of shitstiring Hotrodders and an esky Smiley

.

Hope you all enjoyed.

Great stuff harko, do you have any more pics of the castings you can email me?

They actually look like they are for making the individual core for each manifold that was then placed in the sand casting to allow the alloy to be poured around it before it was washed out of the manifold leaving the passageway for the fuel/air to travel down.  Pretty interesting stuff.
